Hey Friends! We have completed a few more steps... each one feels like such a milestone! So, we received our I800a approval on Dec. 29th. Then our stuff was sent to the National Visa Center. We were entered in their system on Jan 6th and I got word from them today that we were cabled yesterday. So, we can now begin the 2 week wait for our article 5..... I know this all sounds completely like gibberish unless you are in the adoption world.... but basically this means that once the chinese new year is over (it is the week of Jan 23rd and everything shuts down for the week) our Article 5 will be picked up and THEN, all we will be waiting on is travel approval!!! I can't even believe it! TA can take anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks. Once we get TA, we can buy plane tickets and go get our baby!! I'm still hoping and praying for end of February. The only wild card is we don't know how much of a backlog of people there will be waiting to travel because of the new year. But I feel like I have finally reached the end of doing all that I can do.... there is no other agency that I can call and bother.... no other form to fill out and mail.... nothing.... just wait... and it feels so nice! Of course, now I can start packing stuff up so that I will be ready to go. One of Mei Sims' buddies is being picked up by her family at the end of the month.... I can't wait to live vicariously through them knowing that our turn is next. More after the Chinese New Year!

Great news Rushton! It feels so surreal to be this close, huh?? Can't wait!! :)
So exciting! We are waiting now on our PDF which should be here this week! We are hoping to leave March 7 and be gone over DD's Spring Break! Maybe we'll be in GZ at the same time!
Hi Rushton-
I found your blog from a friend. A friend of mine who adopted recently from China suggested that you might want to ask questions about Mei's current situation-questions that only the orphanage and Nanny's know. i.e. when did she first roll over, is she sleeping in a crib or toddler bed, is she sharing a bed, is it the same Nannies all day long or different folks all day long, is she still drinking formula-if yes what kind, etc.
She said it is those questions she wished she has asked so she could fill in more of her's son's story and it would have eased the transition for them.
Praying for you!
